One of the announcements was that the trash in tower was designed to be bypassed ... Mez, etc and keep running - ofcourse some trash close to the events themselves we still need to clear :)

Actually, it was NOT designed to be Bypassed, doing so changes the loot table for events. It was not the intent for the trash to be bypassed, When the banner was enabled, it was an oversight that allowed the trash to be skipped. Don't be surprised when they turn off the Banners in Tower or Link the Trash to the events.
